FHS Extended Options for Registered Users

NOTE: All of the options previously distributed only in the registered version of the program are now a part of the freely and publicly distributed Windows version of the program.

Many of the options that were previously provided to registered users as system extensions have now been made a part of the publicly distributed version of the software. Those options include ancestor, descendant and relative summary reports, a relationship calculator and a MailMerge export program. Now, the extended options provided to registered users are those that create Index Files, allowing you to process records in sorted sequence, and two additional programs that rely upon Index Files for their operation.

Index Files and Indexed Reports

An Index File is just a list of all Name Record ID numbers placed in a special sequence. A program that needs to process family records in a special sequence will just read a previously created Index File in which the ID numbers are in that sequence. One of the Extended Options allows the user to create Index Files by sorting the records on combinations of the following fields:

The special reports that can be printed using index files include: In addition, the Family Group report programs provide for printing Group reports (either individually or Merged into a single report) in "Indexed Sequence" using an Index File, and Index Files can be used to export records in sorted sequence to GEDCOM or MailMerge datasets.
