FHS Manual - 1997 Update

The manual for the 1997 Update of the Family History System combines the previous two manuals (Basic and Extended) and expands them to cover features that were added by this update. Microsoft Word was used to prepare the manual to take advantage of the features of that word processor for improving the appearance of the document. Several levels of prominent Headings are used to subdivide the manual and representations of formatted screen displays have been included to supplement the text.

The following items provide an overview of the structure of the manual. You can download all of the manual in one PDF file or you can download individual sections. A download is begun by clicking on the file size. If a date is shown for a section, it indicates that changes have been made subsequent to the initial release of the manual. Click on the date to see a list of changes.

NOTE: The manual was reformatted on 1/6/98 to use 10pt type (instead of 12pt). This reduced the total number of pages. A "Table of Contents" was also added to each section. On 1/23/98 a Table of Contents for the manual was added as Section 0.
The sections of the manual are distributed in PDF format and require the freely distributed ADOBE Reader software to be read. This software is normally pre-installed on all personal computers but can be acquired from Adobe.com.
